Setup Overview

Getting up & running with SQLBench is a quick and easy process, which you should be able to complete within minutes.

Signup / Create Account

First, you need to signup and create an account.

To do this, visit SQLBench.com and click the "Signup" button in the top right corner.

Choose between username/password or a social login from Google, LinkedIn or Facebook.

SQLBench allows you to have one or more accounts. If you are an employee at a company, you can create an account for that company but if you are a consultant working with multiple customers, you can create an account for each customer if you wish to keep things separate.

Download, install & activate the SQLBench Agent

Next, log in to the SQLBench Portal and download our current SQLBench Agent installer.

The Agent installer can be downloaded from the "Downloads" menu in the top right profile menu.

An activation key is required, which can be generated by clicking the "Settings" cog icon in the top left portal menus.

Once in Settings, select "Agents", then click the "New Activation Key" green button to generate a new activation key.

Install the SQLBench Agent onto a VM which has network access to the SQL Server system/s you wish to monitor.

Start the SQLBench Agent Config GUI utility from the Windows Start > SQLBench menu, insert the activation key & click the "Activate" button.

Monitor a SQL Server system

Click "Add" in the SQLBench Agent Config GUI main screen to start monitoring a SQL Server system.

Choose between "Installed Instance" or "AWS RDS for SQL Server", depending on which type of SQL Server system you wish to monitor.

Follow the prompts & click "Test". SQLBench then performs a range of accessibility & permission tests to ensire that setup will complete successfully.

Further details about setting up Installed Instances or AWS RDS for SQL Server are available in the next help sections.

View Telemetry in the SQLBench Portal
